FEDA indicated that the voltage drop from the Spanish side immediately triggered the automation that switched the connection to the French side, and the power supply across Andorra was restored within ten seconds. Since 12:33 p.m., all electricity in the country has come from the French side. “Thanks to the capacity of FEDA’s high-voltage line, it is possible to meet all electricity demand in Andorra without any issue,” the company said, adding that it had maintained contact “with electricity suppliers in Spain and France to monitor the situation” and that the French operator RTE had ruled out the risk of contagion.

Initially, it was suggested that France was also suffering the repercussions of the large blackout, but it turned out to be only punctual outages in some parts of the country. In fact, the northern neighbor was part of the solution during the progressive recovery of power supply in Spain throughout the day. In nearby La Seu d'Urgell, electricity returned around 9 p.m., after more than eight hours of blackout, which had a consequent impact on the city's businesses.

Diari learned that at least one family from Andorra was trapped on a high-speed train to Madrid, which was stranded for hours in the province of Guadalajara with no food or water for passengers and no communication. At night, they were transferred to a local hotel. Shortly before 10 p.m., the Spanish government reported that eleven trains still awaited passenger evacuation.
